“I’ve got to do what?” I hissed at Max.
We’d gotten the avian girl into a hospital, alright. It had been tricky, having make it seem like we’d found her while taking an early morning hike on a nearby path. A hunter found us, believed the story about the bear, and called his buddies over with a walky-talky. It was then a matter of getting her to a hospital, which was easy enough, seeing as the small group of hunters had called an ambulance over. "That sounds cool. What is it?" I asked walking up to Fang and Gazzy. They were listening to something on the computer. It sounded pretty cool. Like, a, a-- "The Tempest." Fang answered. Yeah, it sounded like a tempest, hence the name The Tempest.
"Good name," I commented.
"Isn't it though,"
I sat down on Fang's lap and he put his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek.
"I like the part in the middle, you know when everythings happening at once and it sounds all crazy, it sounds so cool." Gazzy said, then added, "Like, the middle of the storm."

Geez. Of all things, I did not expect we’d find some girl being torn to shreds by Erasers out in the middle of the Rockies. There was something that I didn’t understand about it, though. Why didn’t she scream? I mean, anyone with commonsense would scream. Don’t you think? That girl was a mess; I had to wrap her up in a windbreaker before I let Ig take her. Maybe she was mute? Maybe the whitecoats did something to try “enhancing” her voice box and it resulted in her being…speechless?
I tried not to look at the girl’s maimed face, but it was hard. As you know,
